Cellular Neurobiology of Neurological Disorders

My main interest is in the cellular mechanisms resulting in neuronal pathophysiology in models of neurological disease and disorders. The overall goal of my research is to understand how dendritic pathophysiology and synaptic dysfunction combine to produce deficits in information processing and aberrant excitability in cortical neurons. My research is currently focused on neurons in the hippocampus and medial prefrontal cortex, with  emphasis on voltage-gated ion channels, in models of Fragile X syndrome and temporal lobe epilepsy.
